OK guys, I need an opinion. I let my mouth overload my butt (as the saying goes around here Very Happy ) and told a friend that wanted a large painting of a tall ship that I could do one---no problem. Rolling Eyes Of course I've never even drawn a real ship, so I thought I'd better practice drawing one, to see if I actually could handle the subject, before I even thought about starting a watercolor.

So here is my first attempt. What do you think? I guess the real question is-------Should I try something simpler?

Got a few days off. I thought I'd branch my scribbles out a bit. A friend suggested that I try to sell a drawing or two at her booth at the local fair. So what do you think-----will someone pay for something like this?

I don't buy art myself. I suppose there are people out there who do. Seems to me that if they were going to buy portraits, they would be portraits of known or well-known people, like actors or singers, or generic people integrated into some type of scenery or background or activity.

Personally I find having pictures of random people in my house kind of creepy.

How are you at drawing portraits live?

My 2 cents: anything other than random-generic people would be more sellable; landscapes, seascapes, moonscapes, lighthouses, kids in trees, boats, animals, hot air balloons, etc. If you want to sell people then make them celebrities or religious.

I think you're right. Maybe I'll scribble a couple of barns.

Truth is, I'm not sure that I want to put my scribbles out to be seen by some of the artists here in town. I'd like to keep what little illusions I have about my talent. Rolling Eyes
